LyX. Use it once and you'll wonder why on Earth word processors were even invented. That was not an exaggeration. You might also want to look at Octave for maths teachers and students - think of it as being able to give a graphical calculator to every single student for free. For the more technically-minded pupils, you should find that the wide variety of programming languages and environments within Linux provides something that will keep them occupied and fascinated for hours (days, months, years) on end. The GUI C++ IDE, KDevelop, is particularly worth investigating, as are PHP and Perl if you want to get into web programming. Michael Brown Fen Systems Ltd.
