I think you want to use ETRN. 1) setup sendamil running as a daemon on your server 2) when you dialup DEMON use fetchmail to trigger the smtp download eg. /usr/bin/fetchmail -p ETRN smtp.demon.co.uk -S myserver.mydomain 3) smtp.demon.co.uk will send myserver.mydomain any mail waiting in its queue via smtp - actually not smtp, it must be esmtp for ETRN but if you are using SuSE 6.4 sendmail does esmtp. 4) put the above in your dial-in script or even in a crontab if you use diald or a router. PS you don't have to use sendmail; there are other smtp mta's eg exim, qmail, postfix. Hi again Thanks again to Kevin for his continued good advice I sent one reply back to just him by mistake..... To be more specific....
I can send mail: From a win98 PC to the Suse6.4 server From a win98 PC to the world via the server From the server to the win98 PCs From the server to the world. I can finger DEMON to check the mail is there....it just >won't download.......Don;t want to use a POP daemon unless I have to, shouldn't need to with Demon. Am I right in thinking that I have to wait for DEMON to >push the mail at me using SMTP. I can't use a command to force it?
