Hi all Is anybody our there using the ndtef exam board? The reason I ask is thier reluctance to acknowledge the equality of wordprocessors and desktop publishers at a school level. part of the exam requirement is the ability to import text from a wordprocessor into a dtp package! this would effectively eliminate the use of staroffice and several other systems. So, if anyone knows of the existance of a dtp package under linux please let me know.
KWord (part of KOffice) is a frame-based DTP package, allegedly similar to FrameMaker (despite the word-processor-like name). AFAIK, it is "rapidly improving" in terms of stability etc. - this translates roughly into "get the latest version you possibly can". Out of interest: is the exam board just checking that pupils are able to jump through the hoop of copying and pasting text, or is there something more to it than that? If it was "from a wordprocessor to a markup language such as HTML", then I could see a point. Just asking. Michael
