Hi
In school we have two linux servers running suse 6.3. One is being used as a fileserver and squid proxy for staff the other is a squid proxy for students and mailserver for the whole school.
At the moment I have to create and mirror the username and password for each new (staff) user on both machines so that they can access files and email with the same name and password.
What I'd like to know is there a (simple!!) way of creating/updating user details on one machine in sync with details on another machine?...or am I just being lazy! TIA
I can point you in the direction of NIS and YP, that's what they're for. Unfortunately, I can't give any specifics as I've never actually used them. Personally, I use ssh and in-house scripts.
