Greetings,
I wish I *did* get to use Linux 24/7
Well, for those who do (run GNU/linux 24x7), and feel that they are missing out on all this virus business, I forward to you the following: "I am a unix virus. Please log in as root, delete a few critical files and then forward this message to all your friends. Thanks".
but even so Outlook is banned from our internal network, there are really good free alternatives
.. many free alternatives distributed with SuSE Linux 8o)
We use SuSE with our more advanced sixth formers, and as training tool. Or at least, we try to. Which is why we are on this list......
Hmm, I'm mailing this from my daughter's PC. It has a software modem, so she has a Win95 partition for occasional web access. She gets grumpy whan I use this, and begs me to reboot into SuSE Linux ("Tux's system"). Right now though she's downstairs trying on outfits for her *6th* birthday.
even for commercial use. It's just my opinion that a mailing list called linux-uk-schools should be just that - related to providing help and information about the installation and use of Linux within the academic community.
N.B. not including some *Windows* virus, just on the basis that it may delete files the Windows machine has access to or be sent by email over standard MTAs...
Good point. Dual boot machines also at risk. it's not a .sig, just the last line of the message. -------------------- talk21 your FREE portable and private address on the net at http://www.talk21.com
