To: SuSE-Linux-UK-Schools Subject: [suse-linux-uk-schools] Had to remove squid :-( Date: Fri, 24 Nov 2000 18:19:02 +0000 After reporting that I was successfully using squid at school on our RM Connect network, I have just had to remove it. One morning pupils rrported they were unable to access the 'net. I logged on, as did another member of staff and we found we were OK, using the squid proxy. I rebooted the Linux machine but pupils still couldn't access anything apart from the EduWeb homepage. which would have been cached. I had to change the proxy address back to the original RM proxy because I could see what was wrong and couldn't deny the school access to the web while I found out what was wrong.
Basically I don't know where to look. The log files mean little to me. I can open up Netscape on the proxy server itself and access the 'net easily using isdncache.rmplc.co.uk:8080 as my proxy, so I can verify that this machine itself is able to connect to the router via the network OK.
Any ideas? I am not sure what to report - any suggestions would be useful.
Cheers.
