hi all Open Source for Education Development ===================================== following the abortive attempt to hold a meeting Llandrindod Wells in Sept, due to the fuel crisis, this has now been re-scheduled and will take place on : Thursday 23rd November, at the Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells ----------------------------------------------------------------- A final agenda has not yet been determined, but the main aims of the meeting are:- 1. To discuss the future development of Open Source tools, applications etc for use in schools, including :- - direction for development and distribution - management and organisation - specific projects, including those to be evaluated by Becta's Small Scale Technology Pilots. - potential role of commercial organisations Given the success of the Powys server project, this will form a main part of the discussion, hence the location of the meeting. 2. To discuss some of the matters arising from the July Open Source for Education seminar in Coventry, including finalising reports for Becta and the DfEE. The email is an informal inivitation for people who may wish to attend the meeting, however space will be limited. If you wish to attend or find out more about the meeting please contact myself (malc@ngfl.gov.uk). Also, let me know about further ideas etc and things you would like to discuss.
