Is it possible to stop bounced or rejected emails being sent back to the original senders ? This does not happen (as far as I am aware) on any other mailing lists I am part of.
This only happens when the rejecting sight is so clueless and RFCs non-compliant that they send bounces to the header from address rather than the envelope sender address. This is *wrong* wrong wrong wrong!!!!
Even though the RFC's are clear some software writers have great trouble following them. RFC974 appears to especially confuse, sometimes getting completly ignored, sometimes caching DNS data, because the writer thinks it will make things more efficent. (N.B. the latter is best left to nameservers, since they actually take note of the "TTL" fields.) (Though in one case ignoring RFC's is probably deliberate, since it's apparently the policy of a certain American company.)
However it also looks as though some schools are using very dumb very
(Obvious question, which is dumbest in this situation, the software, the school or the individual who made the decision to use it. Though saying that the reports on both the Becta and NGFL websites on this kind of software contain a large proportion of promotional material from the software companies.)
over sensitive filtering, and its almost worth starting a thread about a county just north-east of london and a seaside (!) resort in the hull/lincoln region.
