I will admit to being a bit on the slow side, why not try Linux they said, so I did, it works, but how do I get to use the internet. Edex, our ISP, use a proxy, I can contact this through our router, I can ping alsorts of places but every time I try navigator I get:
'unable to connect to server (TCP Error: no route to host).
I've tried to add in the gateway and IP address of the cache on the other side, but no luck.
I had planned to replace our Apache server on a windows 98 machine, so have set up a machine with 2 cards. I tried to get the Linux machine to work through this Apache server, no luck. What am I missing
If the machine with 2 cards is going to act as a proxy, then you just need the right routing and squid on the machine - there's already a healthey thread on squid here. Apache shouldn't be needed, but for very basic proxying it will work. -- James Samuel Network Manager, SuSE Linux Ltd. Phone: +44 (0)20 8387 4088 Fax: +44 (0)20 8387 4010
