Das funktioniert gut solange ich das Hauptfenster von Amarok geöffnet habe. Schließe ich Amarok, so dass nur das Icon rechts unten in der Kontrollleiste (früher Kicker) bleibt und drücke dann die Playtaste passiert nichts. Unter OS 11.1 mit Amarok 1.x (aus KDE 3.5) mit Keytouch hat das funktioniert und das Lied zu spielen begonnen auf dem der Zeiger stand.
Dann hast du keine _globalen_ Kurzbefehle eingerichtet. Du kannst auch unter Systemeinstellungen > Tastatur&Maus > Globale Kurzbefehle schauen.
da ich wie gesagt nicht mehr in meinem OS 11.1 nachsehen kann, wie sind bei Dir die pid und gid für den ganzen Baum

Wie müsste dann der chown-Befehl aussehen, um innerhalb aller Verzeichnisse die Gruppe auf lp oder was auch immer zu ändern? Wenn es root sein soll würde ein chown -R root:root /dev/bus/usb/ wohl helfen.
Ich habe es zum Probieren nut für das eine Gerät gemacht also chown -R root:lp /dev/bus/usb/001/005
Du hast recht die Sache mit den Drucker einrichten hat sich seit > 10.3 verschlimmbessert.
