Mal schaun, was die kernel Entwickler sagen.
Last night, several applications have been killed by the kernel, something I´m now having for the first time. I know, this problem has been discussed before, but I couldnt find an answer, yet. Sorry for asking the same, again. I can give you the following information, if you anything else, please contact me, I´ll deliver soon.
Did you get a response to this? We've been discussing it on LKML in this thread http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel/248848 Basically you want three patches: from Rik van Riel, Hiroyuki KAMEZAWA and Thomas Gleixner respectively. Contact me if you need them, I have them all saved nicely locally. Regards, Chris R. --------------- UND --------------- Stefan Schilling escreveu:
Except yours? No, not yet. I´m still waiting. But I´ll keep your message and can forward new messages if you want me to do this.
Yes please, I'm very interested in this topic. My specialism is Linux in embedded devices, i.e. the ones that most quickly run out of memory.
That would be great.
I've attached the three (tiny) patches in question. I've applied these to 2.6.10-rc1-mm2 but they probably apply to vanilla 2.6.9 without trouble.
Question: what´s going wrong here (in simple words)? And if this is a general error, why doesnt it occur more often?
In simple words? It's a bug ;) I think it's mostly that there aren't so many people running with such small amounts of memory.
Thanks so far! You're welcome.
