Hi,

I set up a DSL router based on SuSE 8.0 and set up apmd to spin down the
disk after a certain time of inactivity.

Changes in /etc/sysconfig/powermanagement:

APMD_ADJUST_DISK_PERF="yes" # enable disk spin down

APMD_AC_DISK_TIMEOUT="12" # spindown after 1 minute of inactivity

APMD_AC_DATA_TIMEOUT="360" # 360seconds before synching data
APMD_AC_METADATA_TIMEOUT="360" # 360 seconds before synching metadata
APMD_AC_DATA_TIMEOUT="360" # fill level of disk buffers that
triggers a syn
c

That works fine unless i'm connected to the internet. In that case the
disk spins down after the predifined time but immediately spins up
again.

Has anybody any ideas, how to solve that problem? It is very unpleasant
to hear the router's disk spinning all the time although it's not
"really" used. Is there also any possibility to find out or to trace the
recently touched files?

Thanks,
Alex
