DESCRIPTION inetd should be run at boot time by /etc/init.d/inetd (see init.d(7)). It then listens for connections on certain internet sockets. When a con nection is found on one of its sockets, it decides what service the sock et corresponds to, and invokes a program to service the request. After the program is finished, it continues to listen on the socket (except in some cases which will be described below). Essentially, inetd allows running one daemon to invoke several others, reducing load on the system.
heißt das soviel wie: der setzt um was für ein Programm oder dienst gestartet wird, wenn ich über nen Browser einen bestimmten Port anspreche? Sowas wie ein Port=>Programm waechter? Und ohne den können anfragen auf bestimmte ports einfach nicht "verstanden" werden? Demnach wird er dann wohl nur für solche Webtools wie Swat benötigt? Martin
