Hey all,
Robert thanks for taking care of these first announcements.
Honestly I was thinking we should go with Indico, because I was not
aware of any other realistic option and Indico is already set up and
running - also there are people that have used it in the past.
I agree with Robert that we should use a tool that at least one person
knows how to handle well.
Personally I have never used indico, but I've been told it is not that
complicated (or maybe I am misinformed?).
I see that, as simple user, I have the option to create a new
event/conference. Is it ok if I create a new one to test it out a bit?
I have also used pentabarf but only a little bit - that far I liked
it, I just think it has way too many options, not sure we need all
that. I am open to this suggestion.
I think at least 3 of you (Robert, Henne, Matt) have used Indico in
the past, is that right?
Has anyone had some significant experience with Penta?

Hi,
this one is widely used: http://pentabarf.org/Main_Page

Everyone signing up is expected to participate in a few meetings to discuss what tracks we should have, timing of call for papers etc. Also everyone on the committee is expected to read all the submitted abstracts.
So feel free to jump right in, and respond to this e-mail or send me an e-mail directly if you are interested in helping with the program for oSC13. Note there is no conflict of interest, i.e. you can be on the committee and still submit proposals for a talk.
I'll volunteer for the program committee regardless, but it would be nice if we could settle on some decent (like, not indico) management software to use well ahead of time. Ideally, it would allow the organizers to keep a single copy of the schedule (not split like with the Summit, and not in a giant Google Docs spreadsheet like with the Conference) so schedule changes can be identical on both the website and the mobile client. And so I never have to format javascript by hand again :-)
I came across openconferenceware: https://github.com/igal/openconferenceware which looks better, but there might be something more ideal out there.
