Hi, I was not considering the conference due to travel expenses, but if the travel support program is still an option I would very mush like to participate in the event and lead a BoF on: "including ext4 snapshots support in openSUSE 12.1 and GSoC 2011 related projects" About myself: ========== I am the main author of NEXT3 snapshots: http://lwn.net/Articles/387231/ which I developed for current my employer, CTERA networks. I continued, on my own time, to lead a community project of ext4 snapshots feature. This work was presented on a BoF in Linux Plumbers Conference 2010: http://linuxplumbersconf.org/2010/ocw/sessions/1191 And in Linux Storage and Filesystem Summit 2011: http://lwn.net/Articles/437066/ My employer, CTERA networks, has helped me with travel costs to those conferences, but ext4 snapshots in not on its main agenda at the moment and inclusion of ext4 snapshots in openSUSE in certainly not on its agenda. I live in Israel (hence the travel cost). GSoC 2011: ========= On this year's program I personally initiated 5 ext4 snapshots related projects with 5 students that have worked with me on ext4 snapshots feature. 2 of those projects were accepted via openSUSE org: - "testsuit for btrfs/ext4 snapshots" mentored by Greg Freemyer - "snapper support for ext4 snapshots" mentored by Arvin Schnell in the latter project, the student has failed the mid-term evaluation, but lucky for me, Arvin has taken up to complete the project on his own. openSUSE 12.1 ============ Greg has been trying to promote the idea of including ext4 snapshots in 12.1 and has opened a home project (next4) in OBS for that matter. I would like to attend the conference and lead a BoF about the results of ext4 snapshots related GSoC projects. I would very much like to meet the people involved in forming openSUSE 12.1 and discuss the inclusion of ext4 snapshots. Travel support ========== If travel support is still a viable option and if it is not too late to propose topics for BoF sessions, I would appreciate if you let me know ASAP. I am travelling with my family in Europe in August, so it may be possible for me to change some travel plans and reduce the travel costs to the conference.
