FYI - I have posted a description of how to install Kibana/Elasticsearch/Logstash https://en.opensuse.org/User:Tsu2/Install_and_Intro_Logstash-Elasticsearch-K... What it is Applying "Big Data" Analytical methods like MapReduce and NoSQL combined with a powerful "click to drilldown" web interface and a Log input agent, this can probably do anything you've ever imagined analyzing log data. This is a "complete package" setup which implements an agent for data collection, infinitely scalable (both horizontally as well as vertically), and instead of simple text query/result, implements "data visualization" for both querying and results. Perhaps relating to an OpenStack-like project, one person threw github logs into this type of search, identifying things like Frequency of different types of errors(all users, all repos) Frequency of different types of build errors Frequency of build errors within a project In theory, unlike traditional nagios-type event notifications, when an event occurs, log analysis is supposed to offer hope tracing the minor events that led up to the notification. I'm looking for different places to implement this new "toy" If nothing similar is already being used, I'd suggest setting this up for assisting building/maintaining the OpenStack project (and maybe other open projects related to SUSE), Subject to my own time, am willing to help setup and use this tool.
