I am working (almost finished) on something like this for the OpenNebula 
cloud. If you can wait a couple of day I expect to have the write up 
done by the end of the week and everything should be published.

We can then look for opportunities to share/generalize some of the stuff 
I've done.

I will post links to everything to this list when I am done.
