but realctx seems to be a master-only thing.

No, it's easy to backport. Committed as
eb3a878480fe15576cecb0e7e3122a9d28a370e9.


I'm getting the blocked state on packages for my custom DoD target
(rolling CentOS 7 with EPEL and other stuff) for regular package
builds, as well.

This backport didn't seem to help.
