Is there an easy way to trace back from which sub/home project a particular
package is originated from?

osc develproject openSUSE:Factory $PACKAGE_NAME 2>/dev/null
# older osc doesn't support develproject
osc meta pkg openSUSE:Factory $PACKAGE_NAME | grep "devel project" |
cut -f 2 -d '=' | cut -f 1 -d ' '

osc rq list -s accepted openSUSE:Factury/unixODBC
osc rq list -s accepted server:database/unixODBC

there you will find everything, even if the pkgmeta does not contain a
<devel> tag -- the latter of which occurs a few times in
openSUSE:Factory, and basically all the time in other prjs.
