[opensuse-buildservice] Doubts about crossbuild and qemu

Hi, all!
Now that I've configured an OBS instance correctly and I can compile
packages for i586 architecture, I would like to know how crossbuild
works, because I want to cross compile packages for sh4 architecture
and someone told me (and after I read that into the crossbuild wiki
article) that I will need to use qemu, but I don't know how to
configure OBS and qemu to work together and what kind of hardware I
would need. Now, my OBS is configured in a VM (VirtualBox) only to
test it and see that it works correctly before it will be configured
into a real machine, so now I have a limited hardware.
So, can someone explain me how OBS uses qemu? Because I don't know if
I need a set of binary packages for sh4 architecture to start
compilation into qemu or the qemu image created by OBS has its own
compilation environment.
Regards.
