The problem is that my firefox was not finding 127.0.42.2 so I had to use 
vhosts. I followed the instructions on the README.setup but was missing the 
following:

If you want to use vhosts, you also have to edit the 

 /srv/www/obs/webclient/config/environments/production_slave.rb

and change the 127.0.42.* for you vhosts.
