http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=996848 Bug ID: 996848 Summary: [Build 0166] Deleting "quiet splash=silent" from grub line during installation in "Booting" section has no effect Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.2 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader Assignee: jsrain@suse.com Reporter: okurz@suse.com QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com CC: ashalatha-a.a@hpe.com, jreidinger@suse.com, mchang@suse.com, mgriessmeier@suse.com, okurz@suse.com Depends on: 989803 Found By: --- Blocker: --- +++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #989803 +++ Like bsc#989803 but for Leap 42.2, not fixed. ## observation During installation from the installation summary one can click "Booting" and then configure grub boot parameters. Removing "quiet splash=silent" seems to have no effect as the installed system has these options in /proc/cmdline and a splash screen is shown. Other settings on the same installer configuration page selected at the same time have an effect however, e.g. disabling graphical grub screen. ## steps to reproduce * In installation select "Booting" * Delete "quiet splash=silent" from grub command line * Continue installation * Observe on first boot (or any subsequent boot) that splash screen is shown when it shouldn't ## expected result Changing the boot parameters should have an effect on the installed system, in this case no splash screen should be shown but the log messages during boot. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
