The actual integration of the repo's happens in either the LEAP or Tumbleweed
repositories. KDE:Extra is an additional repository with software that is
created and supported by the community. These are most of the time other people
than those actually involved in the development of the KDE Frameworks, Plasma
and KDE Applications. Also the packaging in that repository is done by others
than the openSUSE KDE Community team.
So there is a big difference and that is the reason why the KDE:Extra
repository exists. Also this way, users can just add the KDE:Extra repository
for additional software, without having the need to activate also a development
repository for the upcoming releases of KDE Applications. (Assuming this is the
main repository, that you are referring too).
For normal users of Tumbleweed there shouldn't be any reason to activate the
KDE:Applications repository as that updates will show up as part of a newer TW
snapshot automatically.
