--- Comment #29 from Egbert Eich
How do you know?
I can see this in the logfile. 340.96 is G03. G04 would be 352.79. G03 failed
Ok, I'm not fluent in NVIDIA's version nomenclature. But then the description in comment #3 was misleading at best.
because of EDID not been detected. G04 failed due to no support in 352.xx any longer for this old GPU, then fallback to a different driver and then wrong components in place for this fallback driver.
It followed comment #2 which talked about installing the G04 driver which was non-working? The Xserver started and terminated normally but was short lived. This looks like gdm had issues.
Both appears to be fatal for gdm. Whatever. We do have 2 issues here.
I had the same list in comment #18 already.
1. G03 not being able to detect monitor's EDID. (possibly a regression)
It could have been that this issue was fixed by Ulrich resetting his KVM switch. We don't know, though.
2. G04 driver being installed for unknown reaons, which then also leads to a fatal failure.
Yes, this seems to be an issue as well. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
