This bug is referenced in a release candidate for openSUSE 13.2 (openSUSE:Maintenance:4114). Using that kernel, I can confirm that the issue is fixed.
However, I wonder how we can make sure the kernel is active when the user triggers the distribution update to Tumbelweed.
