From time to time, lvm tools like "pvscan", "vgs", "lvdisplay" seemingly just get stuck and do nothing.
Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: Call "vgs" Actual Results: nothing happens, vgs never returns (unless killed) Expected Results: vgs prints volume groups, then exits I can't really tell what makes the problem occur. From my tests it seems it comes and goes with restarting the machine. Just restarting the lvmetad service did solve the problem, but maybe I haven't restarted it often enough. Yesterday, when I installed the latest kernel update, the problem occurred again (preventing mkinitrd from working correctly, as it calls lvdisplay multiple times). Rebooting didn't help, but today in the morning, lvdisplay worked fine, and so did mkinitrd. In the attachment, you can find the output of "lvdisplay -vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv" from yesterday (lvdisplay.fail.log, before killing lvdisplay) and from today (lvdisplay.good.log). The fail.log contains the suspicious line
#libdm-config.c:786 Setting response to token_mismatch which isn't in the good.log.
My lvm configuration is quite complicated. Although I don't think it contributes to the problem, I have also attached the files from /etc/lvm/backup since they seem to represent my lvm config. My machine is a x86_64 architecture, however, I also observed the problem on a 32 bit intel machine (with a much simpler lvm config: 1 PV, 1 VG, 4 linear LVs). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
