--- Comment #15 from Vladimir Botka
Thanks. I'll try uninstalling wireless-tools and switch to the new kernel driver. I know that when I set up the laptop originally (a couple of years ago) the kernel driver wouldn't connect to the AP.
I'll post an update when done, and create a page in the OS wiki to help others avoid the same issues - the multiple drivers and compatibility with the sets of tools is a bit opaque.
wireless-tools are not in a conflict with iw. It's not necessary to uninstall it. wireless-tools are necessary for drivers that don't support nl80211. I strongly recommend to switch to 13.1. Let me know, if the problem still persists. Yes, you're right. Wireless has always been a complex subject. I really appreciate your offer to contribute to the wiki. I offer you an assistance. You can find some potentially interesting stuff in the staled page old-en.opensuse.org/WiFi_HOWTO I recommend to review current documentation doc.opensuse.org/products/draft/SLES/SLES-admin_sd_draft/cha.wireless.wlan.html en.opensuse.org/HCL:Network_(Wireless) en.opensuse.org/SDB:Wireless_network_card -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
