Hello,
I only want to confirm that the segfault is still present
in SLED 11 SP3 with firefox-24-ESR in the year 2014.
As soon as nscd is stopped ^w crashed firefox cannot
be startet.
I run on ~150 machines a cronjob which starts nscsd every minute,
since, lets see, when I compiled the rpm for it:
- Jun 2010
The bug was reported:
- July 2009
We can soon celebrate the fith birthday of this firefox bug,
or we can check if ncscd is now stable again. Back in
2010 it wasn't and this is true since SuSE 7.3 which
was releases ~2000?
Ncsd has even a longer tradition of being unstable, that
firefox not able to start withouth ncsd.
But we have a bit of luck, cron is stable:
FTW:
*/1 * * * * root /etc/init.d/nscd start 2>&1 >/dev/null
since 2010.
regards,
Martin
