https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=860933 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=860933#c0 Summary: /usr/bin/tail +N is broken (tries to treat "+N" as a file) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bdimm@hotneuron.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686 on x86_64; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 Firefox/17.0 SeaMonkey/2.14 The /usr/bin/tail has become broken. It no longer accepts "+" followed by a number to indicate that printing should start at some number of lines from the beginning. Instead, it seems to treat "+number" as a filename and tries to open it. Note that "/usr/bin/tail --help" says it should work (3rd paragraph from the end), and it did work in the past (e.g. OpenSUSE 10.2). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.ls | tail +5 2. 3. Actual Results: tail: cannot open '+5' for reading: No such file or directory Expected Results: Should display all output from "ls" except first four lines. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
