Thank you for your reply and I understand the logic in most all now.
With respect, to security:
I understand that any good netadmin can choose a particular mirror and hence
include a single exception.
I understand that the .rpm .drpm files are for the carriage of exceptionable
files have check signatures for file validation; however the remain
exceptionable files.
For a secure network the indiscriminate traffic of any exceptionable file
would normally be denied globally on the LAN. I would only place a few
exceptions now you have shown me the ability to choose defined mirrors. I'm not
sure if the ability to choose a global mirror is obvious enough, hence my
thoughts on establishing a standard.
However you have given me the logic that mirror brain provides.
With respect to a rant of an uniformed user:
I dont agree that the exchange of logical ideas does nothing but to foster
understanding the logic, however I'm not quite so sure that the logic is
obvious enough, for even me, an uninformed user; to be found on the net.
I could spend a lifetime finding and reading the logic behind just the above
exceptions. Normally to overt this we apply logical standards that exclude the
ability to spend a life time searching and reading the logic behind what should
be able to be done without a slight thought as to the logic of online updates.
Discussion is healthy and constructive. Emotional statement serve nothing but
to be unhealthy and not productive.Bug closed due to some informed logic, but
mostly unhealthy banter in reply
