https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=849955 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=849955#c0 Summary: Enhance Default KDE Installation by Replacing Khelp with an Alternate ReadMe Application that does Offer Usability Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: RC 1 Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 12.3 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Usability AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: secure@aphofis.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:24.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/24.0 The default KDE installation installs khelp centre. The kde help centre offers a very poor read me app. There is no ability to generate indexes, there is no ability to 'search for other documentation' that get's installed with new programs. The indexes exist within the current help text be it all hyperlinks but indexable none the less. Its value is dependant on the kde links of a pure kde application's help menu. As it stands by itself there is no ability to change anything more than the font size and search for text on the screen exactly like the windowing managers CTRL+F. Its links to online help from kde and the text found is not suitable for an average user who cares little about the use of Application Module Names. We had a great default readme Help, that indexed and was configurable back in the 11.x I believe. I'm just suggesting a better read me application that comes with a default kde installation and that would only require a small change to the package manager as its a small complete pattern in itself. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Expected Results: Its a relatively a minor change to the Pattern within Software management selection at installation or post installation. The benefits of reverting back or replacing it with any newer or better type app...possibly from Gnome, I think far outway the man hours it would take to change Its a relatively a minor change to the Pattern within Software management selection at installation or post installation.
