https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=833358 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=833358#c0 Summary: RPM Verify not showing MD5, TS, SIZE changes of %config(noreplace) files Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: joschibrauchle@gmx.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/28.0.1500.95 Safari/537.36 While trying to figure out, if a TeXLive config(noplace) file was changed of not, I found the following problem: ---------- # rpm -Vv texlive-kpathsea ........ c /etc/texmf/web2c/fmtutil.cnf <stripped the rest> # touch /etc/texmf/web2c/fmtutil.cnf # rpm -Vv texlive-kpathsea ........ c /etc/texmf/web2c/fmtutil.cnf <stripped the rest> ---------- The file /etc/texmf/web2c/fmtutil.cnf is packaged as %config(noreplace).
From above example it because clear that at least the time stamp of the file /etc/texmf/web2c/fmtutil.cnf should be shown as changed in the second run of RPM verify. Hence, RPM verify seems to ignore changes of %config(noreplace) files.
How is one supposed to check for changes in these files? There seems to be no command line switch in RPM to override this behaviour? Actually, this bugreport is the contrary to bnc #487735, where the current behavior was requested! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. run "rpm -Vf <FILE>" on a file packaged as "%config(noreplace)" 2. 3. Actual Results: File is always listed as unchanged, even if changes were made. Expected Results: File should be marked as changes, as is done with all files not packaged as "%config(noreplace)", or *at least* there should be an option to override this behavior and include "%config(noreplace)" files in the checks -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
