https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=809131 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=809131#c0 Summary: oprofile wedges kernel Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mmeeks@suse.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- I try to profile libreoffice with callgraph information after digging around it seems I need to do this: # setup: sudo opcontrol --deinit sudo bash -c "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/nmi_watchdog" sudo opcontrol --init sudo opcontrol --no-vmlinux sudo opcontrol --callgraph=10 sudo opcontrol --event=CPU_CLK_UNHALTED:500000 # sudo opcontrol --separate=none # run: cd /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/ sudo opcontrol --reset sudo opcontrol -s OOO_EXIT_POST_STARTUP=1 ./soffice -writer sudo opcontrol -t Unfortunately the kernel wedges / I get a beautiful switch-to-console crash-dump thing (but no doubt anyone can repeat that). I added the --event=CPU... stuff to try to slow down profiling - the default caused the problem too. Thoughts / advice much appreciated - it's my 1st time trying to use oprofile- and without the callgraph data it's not possible to collate profiles from multiple shared libraries into a single tree it seems (?). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
