libffi41 is not on the media, not sure where you got it from
According to the install date (Feb 2011), I'd guess it was Factory shortly before the 11.4 release.
Update is only supported 12.1 -> 12.2 -> 12.3. The current libffi4 package has the only relevant upgrade path for this, Obsoletion of libffi47.
Well, I upgraded from 12.2 - but the system has a long history (the initial installation was ~4 years ago when I bought the hardware) with upgrades to every release, most betas and at the moment even Factory. This means the Obsoletes: libffi41 was never there. Personally (in the packages I maintain) I try to keep backwards compatible as long as possible (if it isn't too difficult), but I understand if you don't want to do it this way.
Btw, what does libQtGui require?
See comment #2 and #3 - libQtGui requires libgobject-2_0-0, and # rpm -q --requires libgobject-2_0-0 [...] libffi.so.4()(64bit)
In the end this isn't a libffi bug, the libffi41 package would have been enough.
Well, the bug is a missing Obsoletes: libffi41 for the old version which contains the same filenames. (If you argue that obsoleting a 11.4 package is not supported: your choice - but as I said: it was never obsoleted in previous releases, so some cleanup for long-upgraded systems might be a good idea.)
That zypper allows you to have RPM file-conflicts is a zypper bug.
Yes, and AFAIK this is already reported somewhere[tm] in this bugzilla. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
