https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=788017 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=788017#c0 Summary: Standby mode does not work reliably on Thinkpad T410s Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: uli.2001@gmx.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 Firefox/17.0 After upgrading Opensuse from 12.1 to 12.2, the standby mode of my Thinkpad 410s stopped working reliably. When I close my laptop, it should go into standby mode (suspend to ram). Now this works mostly, but not always (fails with a probability of maybe 20%). What I see: after closing it, the "moon" LED outside my laptop usually blinks and then stays on once standby is reached. Now it keeps blinking for too long. When I reopen it, my KDE4 desktop is gone, and the KDM login screen is shown. The "moon" keeps blinking. When I try to login, KDE tries to start, but hangs at some point. Then I login as root on the console and do "init 3", and suddenly the laptop goes finally into standby. Then I can wake it up, do "init 5" and work again normally.
