https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=783865 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=783865#c0 Summary: Error when accessing Printers in System Setting Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mike.catanzaro@gmail.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0.1 On a fresh install of 12.2, attempting to configure printers through System Settings gives the following error: "Sorry! The system printing service doesn't seem to be available." This is because we don't install cups by default, which GNOME expects us to do. The only way around this is to use the YaST printer configuration, which installs cups for you. If we expect Grand Ma to poke into YaST to configure printing, she's going to go back to Windows pretty quick!
