However, I find I get damaged config files, mainly from KDE, although it can also be other files in my home dir. This week my keyboard shortcuts were gone and 2 of my virtual desktops, so I decided to just restore the disk image. Today my favorites in the start menu were reset. I checked out of KDE and run an fsck on the ext3 filesystem of the encrypted home dir and found the filesystem was dirty and 3 files were mentioned to be damaged, among them kickoffrc. So somehow the encrypted loop device is not properly unmounted. In /var/log/messages I see this (although most of this is not new): Sep 4 15:25:27 xxxxxxx kdm: :0[1759]: (mount.c:68): umount messages: Sep 4 15:25:27 xxxxxxx kdm: :0[1759]: (mount.c:72): NOTE: mount.crypt does not support utab (systems with no mtab or read-only mtab) yet. This means that you will temporarily need to call umount.crypt(8) rather than umount(8) to get crypto volumes unmounted.
