Then the backlight is working, but the screen-resolution is fixed on 1024x768 (instead of the native resolution of the Widescreen-Laptop) The other way that should work is according to some forum entries i studied to write the following line in the "/etc/init.d/boot.local": "setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=0" This will fix the backlight to maximum. In any case I think this is a problem of the Kernel itself (KMS). I'd also tried Ubuntu Live CD in a new version with the same result. The problem with that graphic controller alredy started with OpenSuse 11.4 which switched to KMS.
