The bug is not that no getty is running on ttyS0. The login prompt was
overwritten by the boot messages, so I missed it.
But login is actually not possible because as soon as I enter the username, hit
return and try to enter the password the login prompt appears again. This
happens with root and NIS user.
One bug is that /etc/securetty has 'console' in it, but lacks 'ttyS0'.
I think it should also get 'hvc0' for login with kernel-xen.
ps fax shows just one getty running, so its appearently not two processes
trying to access ttyS0.
