https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=769555 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=769555#c0 Summary: Firefox uses 80-120% CPU after 2.6.37.6-0.20.1 update Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dgolden@golden-consulting.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:12.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/12.0 Running with vmlinuz-2.6.37.6-0.11-desktop, firefox-bin consumes 0-5% CPU. After upgrading to kernel 2.6.37.6-0.20.1, firefox-bin consumes 80-120% CPU even at idle and ksoftirqd/0 and ksoftirq/1 consume 10-30% CPU each (mostly system as displayed by gkrellm display). This looks, to me, to be a load balance issue. Reports for other distro's have reported kernel problems like this. Down grading kernel to 2.6.37.6.0.11.1 fixes the problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Update to 2.6.37.6-0.20.1 kernel 2. Run firefox 3.
