I did not take over the change with using TextEntry for the password field. I am basically with you that the password is really not that secret, since it is visible in plain text in various files and can be spied at by looking at process command lines. Nevertheless, I would expect someone would come up with a scenario where a super secret password is visible in plain text on a screen for anyone able to glance at the screen of a sysadmin.
