This report is for Tumbleweed.

When compiling any program, gcc 4.6-15.1.3 obtained from the openSUSE-11.4-Oss
repo crashes. for example, the command

gcc -o hello hello.c

with hello.s as follows

#include <stdio.h>

int main(int argc, char **argv)
{
fprintf(stderr, "Hello World\n");
return 0;
}

yields

gcc: internal compiler error: Illegal instruction (program cc1)
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <http://bugs.opensuse.org/> for instructions.

My suspicion is that the compiler is generated with an instruction that my old
box with an AMD K6 450/2 does not have.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.
