I already had a look, see my above comments,
in particular see comment #5.

I have no printer with a serial connection so that I cannot
reproduce issues related to serial printers.

I guess it is a general issue regarding the serial port
(see comment #5) but I have no knowledge how to set up
the serial port in general - I can read "man setserial"
but I never used it. I didn't use a serial port since ages.
My last usage was years ago with a serial modem at home
which "just worked" for me.

I don't know who could debug general issues regarding the
serial port so that I can only reset assignee to default.
