Well, here is the formula for the time-to-empty:

if (energy_rate > 0)
time_to_empty = 3600 * (energy / energy_rate);

As you mentioned in comment#3, the energy_rate went abnormal after you
unplugged the adapter. The energy_rate is calculated and based on power_now or
current_now in the power_supply sysfs.

Reassign to the kernel team to clarify whether it's caused by a faulty hardware
or not.
