https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=751689 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=751689#c0 Summary: YaST sound module does not reload changes (e.g. default card) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: christian.esken-services@arcor.de QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.2 When I change the default soundcard in YaST (openSUSE 12.1), the changes have no effect. This is different from all former openSUSE release. The reason seems to be the change to systemd, as "rcalsasound stop" shows "redirecting to systemctl" and this does neither reloads drives nor honors the new default soundcard. This bug report is related to bug 26672, There it is said that "rcalsasound [...] of course won't work for systemd." and that bug is closed with WONTFIX. But this bug report is different, as we have a defect in the combination of YaST and systemd (changes in YaST have no effect!!!). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install two sound cards (either built-in or USB) 2. Install openSUSE (or make both cards known via sound module in YaST) 3. Make the second card to the default Actual Results: First card remains device 0 (default), second card remains device 1. Expected Results: First card should now be device 1, second card should now be device 0 (default). The problem is not only for changing "default", but also for other changes, like setting kernel parameters. There are literally thousands of pages on the Internet (even on SDB there are multiple like http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Intel-HDA_sound_problems , http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Audio_troubleshooting) that rely on the possibility to reload the sound drivers, so I consider this to be a major omission. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
