Summary: scim (not scim-bridge) doesn't work in Firefox
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE 11.4
Version: Final
Platform: All
OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4
Status: NEW
Severity: Major
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Firefox
AssignedTo: bnc-team-mozilla@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: ailin.nemui@xxxxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
Found By: ---
Blocker: ---
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0.2) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/10.0.2
with GTK_IM_MODULE=scim set, the scim input method doesn't open on Ctrl+Space
in Firefox, making input of Chinese text impossible. This is using the Firefox
from the update repository (10.0.2). It works fine in other applications
(gedit, libreoffice, ...) I also believe this worked in older version of
firefox before the update
On start "firefox" in console, the errors
(firefox-bin:10235): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: plugin
'/usr/lib64/gtk-2.0/immodules/im-scim.so' failed to register type
'GtkIMContextSCIM'
(firefox-bin:10235): Gtk-WARNING **: Loading IM context type 'scim' failed
are displayed.
Maybe related to bug 723337 in openSUSE 12.1?
Reproducible: Always
