My system hangs on suspend, in particular it gives a messages that it is "suspending console(s)", but never gets all the way to either suspend to RAM or suspend to disk, requiring a hard shutdown (i.e. holding down the power button) and cold rebooting. However after suspend to disk, upon reboot, the system will reload the image and resume properly. Please find the following information attached. 1) The output of uname -a (pasted in below in this message) 2) The output of a yast2 hardware probe (pasted in at the end of this message) 3) A dmesg of the last boot (as an attachment) I have noticed several related bug reports, and would like to determine if this is related to 746580? I also looked at 712906 is marked as fixed, 731294 appears to address X86 (32 bit?) but I use 64 bit, and 734226 appears to address a situation where the screen goes black but the backlight stays on (not the symptom I experience). Please advise how I can get more informative logs if neededed (in particular is there some way to enable debugging output when suspending the system and capturing it?). uname -a Linux linux-s23n.site 3.1.9-1.4-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jan 27 08:55:10 UTC 2012 (efb5ff4) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux The hardware probe from yast2 gives: Linux version 2.6.22.17-0.1-default (geeko@buildhost) (gcc version 4.2.1 (SUSE Linux)) #1 SMP 2008/02/10 20:01:04 UTC Command line: root=/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_TOSHIBA_MK2035G_87QST25FT-part7 resume=/dev/sda6 splash=silent vga=0x314 BIOS-provided physical RAM map: BIOS-e820: 0000000000000000 - 000000000009fc00 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000000009fc00 - 00000000000a0000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000000e0000 - 0000000000100000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 0000000000100000 - 000000007f4fe000 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000007f4fe000 - 000000007f509000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 000000007f509000 - 000000007f552000 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000007f552000 - 000000007f555000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 000000007f555000 - 000000007f5bb000 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000007f5bb000 - 000000007f5bf000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 000000007f5bf000 - 000000007f676000 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000007f676000 - 000000007f6bf000 (ACPI NVS) BIOS-e820: 000000007f6bf000 - 000000007f700000 (ACPI data) BIOS-e820: 000000007f700000 - 0000000080000000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000e0000000 - 00000000f0000000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000fec00000 - 00000000fec01000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000fed14000 - 00000000fed1a000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000fed1c000 - 00000000fed20000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000fee00000 - 00000000fee01000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000fff00000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved) Entering add_active_range(0, 0, 159) 0 entries of 3200 used Entering add_active_range(0, 256, 521470) 1 entries of 3200 used Entering add_active_range(0, 521481, 521554) 2 entries of 3200 used Entering add_active_range(0, 521557, 521659) 3 entries of 3200 used Entering add_active_range(0, 521663, 521846) 4 entries of 3200 used end_pfn_map = 1048576 DMI 2.4 present.
