https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=748371 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=748371#c0 Summary: KDE 4.8; Azalia sound device; no sound from PulseAudio, partial sound when PA disabled. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: hacker@scarlet-jade.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.1 On two machines with an Azalia device, sound has worked with PulseAudio in KDE 4.7.3 and 4.7.4, though one machine has been a bit hit and miss. On updating to KDE 4.8.0, no sound is available through PA whatsoever. Disabling PA enables sound from Flash but still nothing from from system notifications such as logon and logoff. Of course, this is also a problem with openSUSE 12.2 as KDE 4.8 is default KDE system. On a clean installation of 12.2, I also had no sound via the Yast test although it had worked when I tested it during the installation. In Yast, I edited the sound device and hit reset in "advanced options" and so restarted sound. The test then worked fine but pavucontrol crashed. I started pavucontrol from the terminal and got the following message (twice): Gtk-CRITICAL **:gtk_main_quit: assertion 'main_loops != NULL' failed.
