Summary: partition manager works incorrectly
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE 12.1
Version: Final
Platform: x86
OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1
Status: NEW
Severity: Major
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Installation
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Gecko) Chrome/18.0.972.0 Safari/535.14 SUSE/18.0.972.0
My System, Notebook:
- Acer Aspire 7530 → dualcore 2x 2,0 ghz (processor ql-62) → 4gb ram
- Nvidia Grafikchip (gforce 9100)
- ide hard-disk (250gb)
Currently available live media (cd gnome/kde) to allow a correct installation
"ide" hard drive not to. Affected live cd media (KDE and GNOME) for 32-bit
architecture.
I've loaded (13.Februar 2012) a openSUSE 12.1 live medium (KDE and GNOME) for
32-bit systems, cd burning with k3b, live in run mode and the installation
procedure start with live-installer.
The "partition" menu point is there in "ide hard drive" then read the partition
table to be incorrect. Existing Linux systems including partitions which are
not recognized correctly, which leads to the partitioning of the proposal for a
new installation is also wrong.
In "ide hard drive" it is not possible to delete the button "whole disk" all
existing partitions to create a new partition table. The button "entire disk"
is non-functional, a manual delete to delete all the partitions will not work
as well.
I delete the existing partitions on the menu-point "expert mode" manual, an
installation of live medium is still possible. Unfortunately, however, then the
daily ran a s2disk no longer feasible because there is no swap partition to
locate and use is necessary but for s2disk is.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.start live medium (live install, and direkt install)
2.partitionmanager start
3.Create partition table
4.Choose a hard drive question
5.Button: "whole disk"
6.manual selection to be deleted partitions
Actual Results:
with kde/gnome live-medium (cd) is for 32 bit architecture not cocrect
installation possible.
Tip for affected:
Up a working medium installations (live-cd for gnome and kde) is available, can
prior users to the installation of a 32-bit live medium, the harddrive delete
with tool: "gparted". But only delete with gparted, not repartition and
reformat! The installation of a blank ide-harddisk works.
