https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=746559 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=746559#c0 Summary: network/boinc-client: Bug Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: 3rd party software AssignedTo: chris@computersalat.de ReportedBy: felipe.alvarez@gmail.com QAContact: opensuse-communityscreening@forge.provo.novell.com CC: Sascha.Manns@open-slx.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- The default package from openSUSE 12.1 has some problems which prevent it from starting correctly. 1. a user 'boinc' is created with shell '/sbin/nologin' which is not suitable. The /etc/init.d/boinc-client script uses 'su' to run the boinc-client as user 'boinc' however su requires that user 'boinc' have a shell. I changed this to '/bin/bash' and it was successfull 2. /etc/sysconfig/boinc-client contains: -------8<---------- # placement of the lockfile depends upon the operating system # it will probably be one of the following: #LOCKFILE=/var/lock/${BOINCEXE_NAME} #LOCKFILE=/var/run/${BOINCEXE_NAME}.lock LOCKFILE=/var/lock/subsys/${BOINCEXE_NAME} -------8<---------- However, directory '/var/lock/subsys' is not present on the system, but both '/var/run' and '/var/lock' are. I changed these lines to use '/var/run' since /var/lock was empty already, and it 'seemed' like 'most' programs were using /var/run. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
